Children and young people come to counselling for a variety of issues, including; low mood and depression, fears and anxiety, grief and loss, self harm, suicidal thoughts, self esteem, anger and frustration, stress, and life transitions such as education and parental divorce.
I am fully qualified and experienced in working with children and young people. Alongside a person-centred approach, I draw on traditional talking therapy techniques, CBT and DBT, creative activity skills and attachment theory. I am a member of the BACP Children, Young People & Families division and I work for a local children's counselling charity. I am qualified and experienced in working with people with autism spectrum condition. To find out more, click here...
Therapy is confidential, but I do believe it’s important to involve parents in the process, so we can all work together to help your child, in partnership with them. Young people who are able to, may wish to work without parental involvement and this can be explored.
CHILDREN & YOUNG PEOPLE THERAPY
Sessions are available Monday - Friday 9am to 7pm and Saturdays 9am to 12pm. I offer a free, no obligation, telephone consultation where you can outline what has prompted you to get in touch and I can explain my way of working. We can then arrange an introductory consultation and regular sessions. If I feel I am not the best person to help, I may suggest other more suitable services.
The 40 minute introductory consultation fee is £20. This gives me an opportunity to meet with clients and work with parents to gather information that provides understanding.
Sessions cost £40 for a 40 minute session. I aim to offer affordable, accessible therapy. So if you are experiencing financial difficulty, I am able to offer an affordable fee to a proportion of clients and this can be explored in our initial consultation.
