bacp accredited counsellor and psychotherapist in Christchurch, Dorset
MY EXPERIENCE
Academic training
My path into psychotherapy began with training in humanistic theory with Person-centred Therapy at it’s core, alongside Existential, Gestalt and Transactional Analysis approaches. Later, I gained a qualification in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), gaining another therapeutic perspective and adding practical, evidence-informed tools that can support change when it best fits the person.
These models taught me the importance of a genuine therapeutic relationship and the belief that, given the right conditions, we have an innate capacity for growth and are able to reconnect with our own wisdom, values and direction.
Clinical training
I completed my clinical placement within a psychodynamic service and remained there as a therapist for several years, developing a deeper understanding of how early relationships, attachment experiences and unconscious patterns continue to shape our lives.
Accreditation
As my experience grew, I worked towards and achieved BACP Accreditation, meeting their higher standard requirements and a recognition of my professional competence, ethical practice and independent clinical work. I engage in regular clinical supervision as part of my commitment to safe, ethical and effective practice.
