Is therapy confidential?

Yes. Your personal information is kept confidential from the moment you make contact and everything we discuss in our sessions together will be confidential except: - If, in exceptional circumstances I became concerned that either you or someone else were at serious risk of serious harm. Whilst I would aim to discuss this with you first, I may need to talk with a supervisor and involve other agencies to best help support you. - If I became concerned that you or someone else were involved in acts of terrorism, vulnerable adult or child protection issues or drug related money laundering, I am legally required to report this. -For the purposes of supervision. As part of my ethical code of practice I am required to engage in regular, on-going clinical supervision. This is to ensure an effective, ethical and professional service. I may discuss our work in supervision but would not use any identifying details.

Do you follow a code of ethics?

I am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I work within their ethical framework and aim to promote and provide good practice in a safe environment, with your best interests at the centre of our work. More...

What issues can you help with?

People come to therapy for a variety of issues, including; low mood and depression, fears and anxiety, grief and loss, self harm, suicidal thoughts, self esteem, Self image, eating issues, phobias, anger and frustration, stress, transitions, education, divorce, relationships and parenting.

Do you offer couples therapy?

I offer individual therapy. Unfortunately I don't offer relationship/couples therapy.

Do you offer a free initial call?

Yes. I offer a free, no obligation telephone call where you can outline what's brought you to therapy and I can answer any questions and explain how we might work together.

How many sessions will I need?

I work with clients in an open ended way, ranging from around 6 sessions to longer term therapy. We can focus on what is important to you, moving at your own pace and completing therapy when you feel ready.

Where does therapy take place?

From therapy rooms in Poole and Christchurch, Dorset, accessible from Bournemouth and surrounding areas. I am a fully qualified counsellor and offer face to face, telephone and online therapy internationally. I am also certified in online and telephone counselling. More...

Do you offer concessions for trainee therapists?

Yes, I am able to offer a concession for trainee therapists as they embark on their course required personal therapy. This can be explored together.

Do you offer discounts?

I aim to offer affordable, accessible therapy. So if you are experiencing financial difficulty, I am able to offer an affordable fee to a proportion of clients. This can be explored together.

Do you hold relevant safety certificates and registrations?

I am registered with the information Commissioner's Office and I have an enhanced DBS check and safeguarding certificate.

What assessment tools do you use?

Sometimes I use assessment tools such as questionnaires and CBT and psychoeducation worksheets to help us understand your situation or issues in greater depth.

Will there be a formal agreement in place?

Yes. I provide a contract that outlines the framework of our work together. Once we have discussed and explored these terms, and you have clarified with me that you have read, understood and agree the terms explained, I will ask you to sign to show that you are willing to provide agreement of these terms and consent for therapy sessions to begin.
